The purpose of the glossary is to define foreign and/or unfamiliar words or phrases that require definition and/or pronunciation clarification, explain important references and allusions made in the text, references and allusions (ex: mythological, literary, historical, biblical, music, pop culture references, etc.), and illuminate social customs that require elaboration.

First Encounter
The First Encounter Plan is a way into A Doll's House for our cast on the first day of rehearsal, or early in the process. In making this, I considered what kind of introductory experience I could give the cast to me, one another and the world of the play. A First Encounter Plan sets the dramaturgical tone for the cast, reminding them that the work of a dramaturg is alive and relevant, rather just text-heavy and supplementary.

Essential Readings
Essential readings are a gift from the dramaturg to the director. They are articles that I believe are important to in enhancing the director's understanding of this play from a wide range of perspectives and expertise. I have attached my Annotated Bibliography of these articles to this page in case the cast is interested in a brief summary of each article and what I believe they offer to this production.
